Elle indique la force n\u00e9cessaire pour comprimer le ressort de compression sur une distance donn\u00e9e, pour \u00e9tirer le ressort de traction ou pour faire tourner le ressort de torsion. La raideur du ressort est exprim\u00e9e en newtons par millim\u00e8tre (N\/mm) et, pour les ressorts de torsion, en newtons par millim\u00e8tre (Nmm).
